Spread Love

I think I'm on a blogging mojo here, so let's resuscitate the blog selagi the mojo is around.  Sooo I have been reading my previous entries... especially the ones on me feeding kimi. Breastfeeding, solid food, etc. After a few entries I came to a few conclusions: Mannnn I was THAT meticulous. I had never been a meticulous person before, so the fact that I changed for that tiny creature? Amazing. Amahzing I tell yah.  People must've seen me as an ass. Yeap. I would call myself an ass back then.  You see, it felt really good when you know you are doing your best to ensure that your kid gets the best food. You prefer home-made stuff, cube everything that can be cubed, color- and date-coded the freezer's contents so they look pretty and neat, bought an expensive food warmer though it wasn't that necessary, bought SUPER CUTE feeding sets (not 1, but 5 sets), yadda yadda. Did your best to avoid sugar and salt at all costs, only refered to annabel karmel fo...

Kimi's First Day with the Babysitter

Image
Since its our first time, we were quite clueless on what we're supposed to do; items to bring, food, what time do we send him or pick him up, and most importantly how do we hand him to the babysitter and leave him when he'll definitely be crying his lungs out . The previous night we prepared his bag, and pack all his baju, susu, diapers and what not lah. Then while nursing him I gave him some pep-talks about behaving and all that. Sambil nangis sikit2. Mommy yang nangis bukan baby. Then yesterday morning I woke up earlier than usual and for the first time, prepared his breakfast in a cute lunchbox! Konon2 nak buat ala-ala bento yang comel, tapi takde masa and takde tools maka jadi la bekal makanan yang biasa. I prepared mini pillsburry instant pancakes and grapes. I read somewhere that you should peel the grapes so I did just that. Kimi if you happen to be reading this, you see mommy loves you very much, tau tak? Kimi was still half-asleep when we got to the babysitter's h...

Weekend Cooking Extravaganza

Pretty Vitamin C! Previously Kimi gets his daily intake of Vit C from either frozen fruit cubes or grated apples. But lately I've been slacking off, saya agak malas utk buat fruit cubes jadi dia asyik makan grated apples saja everyday. I guess he's had too much of it dia tamau makan dah. I need to think of new ways to give him his vitamins. So last week I bought popsicle molds at Daiso at the Curve and made fruit popsicles for Kimi! Sukaaa!! Actually they're just frozen fruit purees, but instead cubed, dia bentuk popsicle. Hihihi. For my first attempt I made mango, orange + mango and kiwi popsicle. Ach ate most of the kiwi popsicle sebab Kimi doesn't quite like it. Masam kot. Hihihi. Next time will try more popsicle recipes. Suka! that's my ice cream mold, and that's my kiwi puree, that unfortunately, kimi tak suka Chocolate Chip and Blueberry Muffin I had the urge to bake something yesterday, the only things available in my kitchen are just nice to bake muffin...

Solids for Kimi

Couple of months ago I was such an ass when it came to Kimi's food. Jangan harap orang lain nak suap anak aku anything that wasnt approved by me. Memang aku mengamuk 24 jam. To give you a picture of my ass-ness, read this: I got effin pissed when anyone suggested that I put garam in Kimi's bubur. " Alahhh, bagi lah rasa sikit dekat bubur tu, kalau tak tawarrr aje, tak sedap la baby tu makan! " Hahahah stressnya hidupku dikala itu!!! Sekarang, I have relaxed a bit. Actually a bit would be an understatement. The correct word should be a lot. From someone who would freak out when ppl feed my kid goreng pisang to someone who actually gave him secret recipe's moist chocolate cake and fries. Once, KFC's potato wedges. I must admit, me being liberalized means less stress for me. Which in turn has helped improve my relationship with some people (read: my maid) since I no longer get mad at petty things, such as, letting my son share the same food with my niece who sta...

Feed me, mommy!

It's been 3 months since I first introduced Kimi to solids. The journey has been a very enjoyable and rewarding one. Tapi, kadang-kadang, geram juge when it comes to the times that I ran out of ideas and recipes for Kimi. His daily menu consist of fruit cereal for breakfast, chicken porridge for lunch, fruit for snack time, and porridge again for dinner. Every single day without fail. The only thing that changes is the fruit and veggies in the porridge. Haih sangat kasihan. For this entry, saye nak share recipe for solids I’ve been feeding him, in return, I hope kind folks out there, if you are reading this, would share recipes for your babies. Sebabnya saya sangat kesian dengan anak saya asyik2 makan benda yang sama. The aim is to introduce him to a wide variety of food sebanyaknya yang mungkin so he wont grow up into a fussy eater. ---------------------------------- Fruit and Root Vegie Puree Any fruits – peaches, pears, apples, blueberries, pisang, papaya, carrots, mango Boil fr...

Six Wonderful Months

Image
Kimi turns exactly six months today... Honestly, time flies really fast when you're having fun =) For the past six months, I must say this buncit has achieved a lot! ( ecey mommy ini perasan ). Among Kimi's milestone so far: weighs 7.8 kg. I get a lot of ppl calling him semangat and once, gemok when we're strolling in the malls. likes to jump-jump a lot. Doesnt matter if he's in a good mood or not, as long as you stand him up, he'll jump can roll over left and right, flip over from back to tummy and tummy to back. knows his name. But then maybe he gets a bit confused sometimes coz I often call him baby. Hahahaha I knowwwwwwwwwwww, I'm spoiling himmm... what to do? likes toys that are hanging and swinging in front of him will pull anything he can grab, mostly my hair and my rantai dah kenal mommy and ayah, our faces and our voices. This I know for sure when he starts to cry whenever we're around and not pick him up. And I know he knows me sebab he cries with ...

Thank you achmon!

Solids

Kimi's gonna be 6 month soon. and I have no idea what and how to feed him. Honestly, its just like yesterday when I first nursed him and now he's eating already? Dem time flies. I totally dont know how to start feed Kimi, like, what's going to be his first food???? Bubur? Nestum? Farley's rusk? Mak told me to start with nestum and farleys, tapi aku bercita-cita tinggi tak ingat tamau all those processed-supermarket food. Eksyen? Yes I know I am. So as always I resort to my bestfriend the internet and susuibu.com to get ideas. Lagi skali, eksyen tamau dengar cakap mak aku who has raised me up perfectly healthy. Ok I digress. Anyway, I intend to prepare Kimi's food myself, at least for the first few months. Here's why: I've worked hard to exclusively breastfeed him just to make sure he gets the cleanest purest makanan, so why would I go easy on his solids by buying pre-processed baby food? I know exactly what I'm putting into my son's perut I wanna be ...
