Our Dream Kitchen
I'd like to quote one of my facebook statuses:
Bree's Kitchen - nope. But I do have a house to build the kitchen in tho.
Most tender steak - Hahahaa. Okay, funny.
Most perfect chocolate brownies - Actually, I dont even like brownies. Not that much, that is. But the perfect brownies actually symbolizes me being an expert in baking, which I am not anywhere near now. My cakes are either poorly risen, or hangus. Malu, malu~
Svelte and sexy - I am still sexy. I am trying to remain sexy (tho ach can argue that I'm not trying very hard at it). I am a funny person kan? Teehehe.
I think all of the above are doable. In fact, some are work-in-progress, tho progress of each item varies. Today I am going to concentrate on item no. 1: Kitchen.
Sometime last month, Ach and I went to our house to see what renovation works need to be done. We planned to renovate, extend and add few rooms here and there but in the end, we realized that is gonna cause lubang to our pockets here and there. So we decided to focus on the kitchen first.
Our (my) requirements for the kitchen are -
Okay, cakap macam orang yang ada seratus ribu to spend.
After many hours of googling and reading online forums, we decided to check out IKEA's kitchen. On our first trip, we chose the color scheme and design that we want, on the second day kitorang made an appointment with IKEA's kitchen planner. Actually you can plan your kitchen yourself using IKEA's kitchen planner, available on its website. It's quite easy to use, even for beginners like us. Prior knowledge on photoshop makes it even easier.
Anyhow, after the appointment, we got a visual image of how our kitchen is going to look like, siap dengan estimated cost lagi. FYI, if you plan to use IKEA's kitchen cabinet, they will charge you for every door and knobs you use, and in addition you will have to pay for the contractor to come to your house and measure the kitchen, lepas tu kena bayar the cabinet installation fee. If you decide to buy the cabinet from them, they do have this easy-payment scheme. Pakai credit card alliance bank rasanya. They even have a counter for customers who wanted to apply for the card. Bagus. All in all for our "dream" kitchen, we would have to pay around RM10K. Itu belum masuk hood hob oven lagi. Kalau beli brand Fagor dekat IKEA tu, total bill would come up to RM12K. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa jantung berenti tiga saat.
Of course we DID NOT place our booking immediately. We went back home, weigh our options... and then, RAHSIA.
Ahahahahaha panjang2 tulis lepas tu tamau tulis ending. Mari sepuk si Ajan ni. Finally after weighing our options we decided to continue looking around. Maybe ada other companies that can make our dream kitchen with our limited budget.
But I really like IKEA's cabinet systems, especially the one for corners tu, boleh main tarik2 keluar. Okay tak berapa space efficient but very convenient. I wanttt!Let's pray supaya Tuhan murahkan rezeki our family and we can afford our dream kitchen. Amin.
[My facebook profile name] sees herself 10 years down the road, in a kitchen as modern and as complete as Bree Van De Kamp's, grilling the most tender 12 oz steak and baking the most perfect chocolate brownies her husband has ever tasted. All the while still looking like a 27 year old woman. Svelte and sexy. AminOkay let's do a reality check:

Our (my) requirements for the kitchen are -
- It should have lotsa storage space to store my stuff (yang takde la banyak mana pun).
- It must be cozy enough that I would be very happy to spend the whole day in it
- It must have the standard kitchen set i.e. hob, hood, and oven, all built in.
- Must have two-basin sink.
- Movable island and two-door fridge is a plus.
Okay, cakap macam orang yang ada seratus ribu to spend.

Cantik gila. =D
Sapa tah yang buat.
btw, yg cantik tu sgt cantik. tp my kitchen pun from ikea color putih. courtesy of previous owner. tp dah lama nampk cam ahak dull.
main nih je boleh tak buat kerja seminggu...
ohh btw design ni kitorang cilok from internet pastu ach tuka sikit2.
aimi: aku try bukak tapi lama gila nak load. Amenda tu?
elle: hatta dah beli rumah ehh? nanti kita cari dapur sama2 ok.
from my experience point of view,
-ikea products look good but they are actually the lowest quality product anyone can buy.especially if you are going to use the mechanical items; roller drawer, mobile island etc the screws, nuts and rollers are rubbish.ok maybe it's too harsh but yeah, kedai biasa screws/rollers are more superior.look is important ... See Morebut you are going to use your kitchen drawers everyday and bukankah sakit hati kalau sekejap je dah longgar? i did go to perth ikea for ideas and when i told my kitchen designer "ohh at ikea,i saw" and he gave me that please-dont-insult-my bloody-professionalism-by-talking-about-ikea- look and snapped "Please dont go down that road, Syibba" *gulp*
And yeah, ikea in australia is not a big hit like kl because it's just plain rubbish
from marketing point of view,
-every single household in KL is using ikea product, which is good for them but not good for you :) plus if you go to any search engines, you'll never see any forum talking bad stuff about them.like wow how much are they spending to counter attack those websites?and how much are they paying for the rent in the curve area?and berapa ribu org keje dengan diaorang just in kl alone?these are the overheads they are putting on the customers like us to pay.Like seriously, a vase you can buy in ikea is rm5, and they are buying from china for 20 cent. And you are using the mass produce items..NOOO AJAN!! you're better than that!
from my industry point of view(building, construction, designing)
-IKEA??what's that?
I rest my case.
Better go to kedai apek and look around. I am buying malaysian made product here in Perth, much more superior than ikea.I bet it's more cheaper to buy from apek than ikea in kl.I am paying big bucks to get malaysia products here. But no way i am going to buy from ikea..You better go back to ikea and rasa the bukak/tutup of the laci, then go to apek's and do the same.
Just because they are from Sweden, doesnt mean they are good :)
We are one of the kind ajan, please dont do ikea!! and it's your dream kitchen!!! just dont!! give the money to apek :) if anything happen, apek will give personalise service to you, they have to make sure their business is good plus word of mouth is important, kan? if ever anything happen to your ikea product, oh well the people will be helping BUT what the heck, bukan company aku..tolong ala kadar only la..
Get the point??
p/s:apek ke melayu ke tak kisah la, tapi just buy local products :)

dia kena download app dulu, then leh personalize.
