Let’s Swim!!

I stumbled upon this website a couple of weeks ago, and have been pestering ach to bring Kimi for swimming since then. Unfortunately, we didn’t know where to get swim nappies plus we’re without the guts to take that dip yet.

Finally, last Saturday kitorang terjumpa and terbeli swim nappy and armbands at mothercare. Sangat excited to take kimi for swim!!

So last Sunday Ach and I brought Kimi for his first swim. Initially we were a bit concerned that the heavily chlorinated water might trigger his eczema, but Alhamdulillah, so far Kimi hasn’t shown any adverse reactions to it. He even accidentally “had a taste of the the pool water”. Okeyy je aku tgk.

The first few minutes after we dipped him tu he looked a bit blur, like, what the hell? It took him a couple of minutes jugakla to realize, “OMG I’m in a sea of water!!”. Lepas tu syok je tgk dia tepuk2 air, splashing waters to his own face, pedaling his legs in the water. Relax je tade nangis-nangis. Attaboy!! Dudes, no combination of words can describe my feelings that time. My baby’s growing up… awww..

We had fun pusing-pusing, rendam-rendam, played hide and seek sembur-sembur air at the pool. After about 15 minutes of rendam-ing he made his bored look. Kau splash la cmane camne pon haram dia tamau layan. Aiyo cepat betul bosan budak kecik ni.

From now on, we’ll try to make it a routine to bringing him swim every weekend. Yeay fun fun fun!

syok!

Anyways, couples of lessons learnt:

  1. Don’t think you can have your own swimming time if you’re bringing a baby with you. This is because the baby can only stay in the pool for maximum 20 minutes, but this can be extended after a period of time. So it’s best to have a separate swimming session for yourself, say, come again in the afternoon, without the baby that is.

  2. Mommy can swim and warm up first, while daddy prepares the baby, and hands over the baby to mommy who’s already in the pool. Please bear in mind to NOT hold the baby while you’re entering the pool. DON’T DO THIS. You might slip and hurt your baby.

  3. DO NOT WEAR SKIRTS. I had to squat by the pool to take Kimi out, all the while exposing my *seluar* underneath. Had no choice, can’t cover coz I was using both hands to hold Kimi, who was wet and slippery from his eczema lotion.

For the benefits of mommies staying in selayang / gombak area, we swim at Kompleks Renang Sri Siantan. The pool is clean, facilities OK. One thing thats stopping this place from getting a 5 star is the limited shower stalls and no air panas to mandi. Other than that this place ok la.

Address:
Kompleks Sukan Sri Siantan, Jalan Sungai Tua, 68100 Batu Caves, Selangor.
