Bila Mak Puji Ajan

Harini I feel like telling you a story about Mak saya.

My Mak, she's the kinda person who does not give compliments that easily. That is especially true with us her children. Kalau nak kena puji, we have to fish for it. Itupun nanti dia puji lapik2. Kalau let's say aku tanya dia aku masak sedap ke tak, (and aku tau memang sangat sedap!), she would just shrug and say, "Okaylah. Boleh makan." Kira dah cukup hebat lah tu!!

Which is why I felt very, very, VERY proud of myself bila mak puji aku, not once, not twice, tapi banyak2 kali last week! Haih. Bangganya saya. Okay saya bukanlah nak sangat orang puji saya, sebab kalau saya nak saya boleh suruh my husband puji everyday. Tapi sebab Mak sendiri kan... this is like, when you were a little kid, you would do anything to get your parents' attention and compliments? Ha sama lah macam ni!

So, marilah baca cerita mak saya puji saya ni:

Case no. 1

Last week we went to visit a neighbor who'd just delivered a baby girl. Mak saya tanya if the baby is breastfed or not. And then bila orang cakap "tak" or "campur", mak saya akan cerita pasal saya bertungkus lumus breastfeed anak saya, sampai saya pump dekat office. Begitu bangganya mak saya dengan saya. And saya rasa mak saya repeat cerita yang sama dekat sapa2 yang ada daughter baru bersalin. Teehehehe. If only they knew that I've given Kimi formula sebab takde masa nak pump tehehehe.

Case no. 2

Mak saya cakap dengan kakak saya, "When it comes to taking care of babies, I take my hats off to Ajan and Yang (my sister)." I wasn't around when she said that, my sister told me instead.

Case no. 3

I was frying omelette. Then tak reti nak flip the omelette to cook the other side, so I got Mak to help. My little brother laughed and made fun of me, dia kata, "Kakteh, masak telur ni common sense aje. Tengok mak buat, kan hebat!", of which i answered, "Alah mak dah 60 tahun goreng telur memang lah hebat." To which mak replied, "Alah, kakteh tu dah kira hebat lah tuu. Mak umur kakteh tu tak reti masak macam kakteh masak lagi!" Oh bangga lagi!

Case no. 4

I was pureeing blueberries for Kimi. Mak said, "Masa mak umur kau ni, mak tak tau pun boleh buat semua benda ni. Tak terfikir pun nak bagi anak2 mak makan macam ni." Padahal the night before dia condemn aku depan our family doctor that i have been feeding my son benda pelik-pelik, that nanti my son tanak makan food melayu. Hahaha. Ok funny.

Case no. 5

My little brother was playing with Kimi, and said, "Eh kakteh, Hakimi ni sangat bijak!". Mak replied, "Tu lah, nanti kau kawin nanti kau buat macam Kakteh ni. Balik kerja malam2 masak sendiri food anak. Susukan baby sendiri. Kalau kakteh tu tak larat nak masak, Akmal tu yang masakkan sendiri. Baca buku banyak2 pasal besarkan baby." I could only smile, widely. =D

I am so happy =)

Bukan entry puji diri sendiri. I am just sharing with you. When some people around me have been ridiculing the way I raise my baby, here is my Mak, supporting me all the way through! (Even though most of the times dia pun join kutuk aku!)
