Hong Kong Day 1
We departed KL at 7.10 a.m and arrived at 11.10 a.m.
Thanks to Kimi, we got upgraded to Air Asia's first class seats - roomier leg space and since it wasn't a full flight, we even got the whole row to ourselves! Kimi behaved very well during the four-hour flight. There was no yelling or running up and down the aisles. Thanks to the internet for the tips and tricks!
Upon arrival at HK International Airport, Ach bought us two Octopus Cards, it's similar to our Touch-n-go here, only better, because you can use it to pay for stuff at the convenience hops too! Very convenient I tell you. HK's public transportation system is very efficient, there is a station for almost everything and there are exits for every shopping mall! Tengok aje map and you'll never get lost. I think during our two-day stay in Kowloon kitorang takde nampak traffic jam pun. Bunyi hon pun jarang dengar. Prolly that's because everyone uses the MTR.
We reached the Hop Inn at 2.40 p.m. It's a nice hotel (hostel sebenarnya), each room has its own theme. The owners, Simon and Wilson, are very nice people, the service is very personalized. You can even borrow umbrellas and DVDs from them for free! It's also very conveniently located, there's a halal Indian restaurant right under us (the hostel is on the 2nd floor), MTR is only 5 mins away, and that's a huge plus since we use the MTR a lot. Ach will be writing about it in detail, soon I hope.
On the first night kami tengok "A Symphony of Lights" along the Victoria Harbour. Quoting one of HK's tourism sites:
This spectacular multimedia display, already named the "World's Largest Permanent Light and Sound Show" by Guinness World Records, has been further expanded to include more than 40 buildings on both sides of Victoria Harbour. The show creates an all-round vision of coloured lights, laser beams and searchlights performing a stunning, unforgettable spectacle synchronised to music and narration that celebrates the energy, spirit and diversity of Hong Kong.
It's supposed to be an awe-inspiring, spectacular lights show, but somehow I found it to be quite disappointing, because the show involves 40 buildings at one time and there's only so many buildings I can look at at one time, bila building sebelah kiri menyala2, aku tengah tunggu bila laa yang sebelah kanan nak menyala, and vice versa. Like Ach said, the canvas is too big. I think they should've used lesser buildings and concentrate on them. Instead of making it look like the lights are dancing with the songs, to me, it looked merely like lampu kelip2.
That's HK Island behind us. This picture was taken by a guy who lives in Saratoga, NY. One of his girlfriends studied at RPI. |
Lagi... that night we just jalan-jalan at Tsim Sha Tsui. With the many huge billboards and signboards, the place reminded me of NY's Time Square. Sebijik, tinggal takde iklan megi besar tu je. Dah la busy. Same je cam Times Square. We went back to our room at 10.30 p.m. and lepas tu tiga-tiga anak beranak fell flat on the bed. Penat.
Kenapa ada sign rolex banyak2, aku tatau. |
Si Hensem (yang mana, i leave it to you to decide) |
