Music to Mummy's Ears
Our checkup last week happened to be the most exciting (and longest one, too) we've ever had.
So it started to get interesting when Dr. Adilah tanyer how many contractions I usually have and how far apart they are.Being me, I never checked pun berapa banyak kali I had contraction per day or per hour. Contraction tu rasa camner pun I dont even know. Of course my only answer to her question was, "I dont know" accompanied by my usually blur-blur face.
Thats when Dr. Adilah suruh buat CTG test, some kinda test to monitor the baby's heartbeat and track my contractions. Sungguhla aku excited, sebab tatau kenapa, but then the excitement hilang all of a sudden lepas tau the test is done IN A LABOR ROOM ON A LABOR BED. I actually baring on the katil bersalin to have the test done. Huuuuu... blom beranak lagi suda baring atas katil dalam bilik beranak... huuu traumatized seketika.
Note: In medicine (obstetrics), cardiotocography (CTG) is a technical means of recording (-graphy) the fetal heartbeat (cardio-) and the uterine contractions (-toco-) during pregnancy, typically in the third trimester - Wikipedia
Anyways, the missy strapped my perut with a device that works like a stethoscope which amplified the baby's heartbeat. Then there it was, the most beautiful sound I have ever heard in my entire life.... dup... dup... dup... (140 beats/minutes okey, amat laju).. I tell you, never have I felt any closer to the baby that that day... I could hear his heartbeats!!!! I felt complete (well... almost), that I couldnt ask God for more. I have the most loving husband I couldve ever wished for, and now I have a baby (whom, so far has been healthy in the tummy... lets hope it stays that way) in my tummy, whom, will of course soon give me sleepless nights, but I'll cherish nonetheless...
Then mummy cried... There's a human being inside me... there's my baby... awww... mummy cried and cried. Awwwww....
Tapi the ayahanda haram takde perasaan muke stone the whole time. Siap nyanyi lagu rap ikut the beat.
The test lasted for 1 hour. Baby's fine, heart is beating OK, my contractions are 12 minutes apart 5 minutes each. Doctor kate cantik.. alhamdulillahhh....
And I finally knew how a contraction feels. Tehehehe...
(for the benefit of those yang tak pregnant, contraction feels like perut yang nak explode. Try makan banyak2 or minum banyak2 until your perut cannot hold it anymore... that's the best I could describe lah... )
