Felt DIY

Todays entry is on two felt DIY projects ach and I did for Kimi. Awww.... so cool.

Project #1: Kimi's mobile

The idea struck us when we were in Ikea's feeding room and there was this cute felt mobile on the nappy change desk or whatever you call it. Before we knew it we were already buying colorful felts at this quilting shop @ Ampang Park.

The first thing we did was decide what shapes we wanted for the mobile. I wanted the shapes to represent all things boyish, but most important of all they must be really easy to draw. Muahaha this mommy is really bad at drawing ok? The simpler the better. Finally we decided on 4 things, a soccer ball, water melon, car, and rabbit. Hahahahaha not sure how the melon ended there.

All the drawing was done by Ach. Very precise with all the grid on the drawing! Then we cut the shapes, pieces by pieces, and traced them back on the felts. And there are 2 pieces of each mobile, front-and-back. It doesn't sound as complicated as it sounds, really.

Then after we cut it into pieces, of course we need to sew all the pieces. Kinda hard at first, but luckily there is step by step tutorial on the net, so it got easier after that. It took me a month to complete all, since Kimi somehow always manage to sabotage mommy's sewing time.

The star for the "roof" was printed from here. When we put it up, Kimi really enjoyed that thing, and he still does. That thing manages to keep him occupied for at least 20 mins. It all worth it.

I never get to really finish the whole thing, since I started working and don't have time muahahaha.... there was supposed to be 5 shapes for each corner of the star, and I planned to sew a K for Kimi, but... plan is just left as plan. Maybe i'll finish that for Kimi's sister.

Project #2: Kimi's Tie

Okay, this one is done 100% by ach. Domestic god he is. We bought a jumper for Kimi, which we thought was too plain. Ach too enthusiastic, he cut and sew the tie on the jumper. With logo of alphabet H for Hakimi.
