India: Day 1
As all of you might have known, I have been sent by the office to New Delhi for a two-week training.
It took me 15 hours to arrive at New Delhi from KLIA. Actually I only spent about 6 hours flying, the rest are for the 9 hour transit. Mula2 I was scared and worried sebab I'm all alone, mana aku nak tau domestic terminal dekat mana, lagi ape nak buat transit 9 jam?? Luckily I met this group of book publishers and college professors who are going to Delhi and were taking the same connecting flight as mine. And aku pun dengan muke tak malu tanye if I could tag along with them. Ye la dari aku sorang2 je 9 jam.
Apparently they are with a travel agent and they had planned visit Mahabalipuram temple masa transit time tu. Tiba2 agak malu nak jadi freeloader. But guess what, they agreed to take me along!!! w00t! Dapat free lunch and free visit. Awesome. So lesson learnt is, ringan2kan lah mulut bila berjalan sorang-sorang. At least people know you exist.
I joined them and hung out with cool and kind people. I got close to this Auntie and Uncle who turned out to be a Prof. Dato' Dr. Aku rilex je panggil Uncle. I chose the right person to mengendeng with sebab I got to tumpang their special treatment, because the Auntie kata, "izzy, meh sini, duduk dengan auntie. Izi jangan risau, Auntie jaga izzy'. W00t. Terharu.
About Mahabalipuram, it's a temple that was uncovered from the ground. Temple tu tenggelam masa tsunami zaman dahulu kala. Then a group of archeologist found it somehow and dug it out. The history is a bit more complicated than that tapi itulah summary dia. Next to this temple there is a huge rock that looks like its stuck at the lereng bukit. You see, its a huge rock, and its point of contact to the ground sangat sikit, so its amazing that that small point of contact could hold the weight of the batu. Amazing, I tell you. I didnt really get the story of the temple, sebab I didnt quite understand what the guide was saying.
As I had been warned, dekat temple tu there were many women and kids trying to sell us necklace, shouting "One dollar one dollar!" while literally, shoving the necklaces to our faces. Among them was this lady, she was wearing her baby who was sleeping at that time, he looked like he's around 5-7 months old. She saw me glancing dekat the baby and immediately used the baby as her marketing tool. "Maam, baby maam, no business baby no eat maam". Mannnn, my heart broke into a million pieces. Not enough to make me buy the necklaces, tho.
Lepas tu we went back to the Chennai Airport untuk take the connecting flight. The Immigration was really2 strict and perlahan yang amat. There was a long queue at the metal detector sebab they insist on checking every one inch by inch. EVERY bag including handbag must be tagged and the tags must be stamped. Without these stamped tags, they will not let you pass through the boarding gate. They'll make you patah balik to the metal detector and queue semula. So if you happen to be here, DO NOT lose the tags.
I reached New Delhi airport at 9.30 pm local time. I had quite an adventure masa nak pegi hotel. Funnily, the driver tak tau Hotel yang I'll be staying at. So kami pun pusing2 la satu delhi that night. Imagine, saya wanita yang comel sorang-sorang di India dengna driver taxi yang sesat. Awesome.
I finally made it to the hotel at 1030 pm. Nasib baik hotel cantik.
Okay, I'm signing off. I have more stories to share. Nanti esok pulak. Night!
