Happy Father's Day, Ayah!!!

Okay. Dah dua entry sedih. Mari jangan sedih lagi. Kita celebrate ayah yang ada.

Actually,  I am really broke this month, and prolly many more months to come because of the reno works that are going on now. Takpe, biar papa sementara janji rumah cantik. So I decided to celebrate on a lower note this year, no makan-makan outside or hadiah this year. After considering many-many plans, I thot a simple breakfast in bed and a home-made father's day card would suffice. It's the thot that counts, kan???

The Card

I started by designing the card three days before d-day. I made a three-panel card and made a quilled bottle and quilled heart untuk depan card. I used this picture as a guide. Seriously, this quilling thing is interesting! Comel gila end product dia. It's not that difficult, tho its VERY meticulous since you have to cut lots of 1/8 inch of paper strips (sangat kecik ok??) lepas tu you have to roll them and the rolls are sooooooooo small that you have to hold them using a pair of tweezers when gluing them together! But the end product is so worth it I don't regret wasting so much time rolling the strips.

Initially i wanted to get Kimi involved by getting him to glue the rolls.... tetapiii.... I only managed to get him interested enough to spread the glue on the card. I lost him the moment he saw my pink rolls, he was more interested in squashing them. Ohhh tidakk maka mommy had to be selfish and buat sendiri.

tengok, rolls tu dah tercabut sikit? tu kerja Kimi.

The Breakfast

Since it's only gonna be a simple breakfast in bed, consisting of only omelette and toast, I need to up the presentation la kan so takde la nampak kodi sangattt pemalas mommy ni buat breakfast aje.  I went to DAISO and bought huge star- and love-shaped cookie cutters. I've already had alphabet ones. A day before that I made star- and heart-shaped butter, by slightly melting the butter and penyekkan butter until I get the desired height, and cut it using the cookie cutters. Then I froze them again to be used the next day.

I woke up really early that Sunday. Not only early, I had to get off the bed reallllyyyy slowly so not to wake Ach up, sampai kena tip-toe out of the bedroom. I even had to get kimi off the bed with him still latched on to nenen because if I unlatched him Kimi would SCREAM on top of his lungs. Nope, I couldn't risk that, nanti Ach bangun habis surprise aku.

I prepared my omelette, made star-shaped toast and fried some sausages. First I arranged the omelette, sausages and star-shaped toasts on my new square white dinnerware (I just have to mention the word new, kan kan?). Then I cut out the word "SUPER" using my alphabet cookie cutter and arranged them around the star-shaped toasts to make the word "SUPERSTAR".  Lastly I put on the star- and heart-shaped butter on the plate, poured orange juice in a glass and arranged everything, including the card, nicely on the tray.

Lepas tu I woke kimi up, bathed him and together, we tip-toed upstairs, into the room, and woke Ach up. Sebenarnya kimi yang kejut ayah dia, dia tepuk muka ayah dia kuat gila sambil cakap, "Aaaahhhh!!".

Well, the rest is history.

Maybe ach lapar kot, or aku yang lapar, but none of us remembered to take pictures of the breakfast until after that. Only the heart-shaped butter left intact. Hihi.

To Yayang aka Ayah Kimi,

You are really a wonderful father. Honestly, you are. From the countless trips to the kitchen  (downstairs la pulak tu!) every single night without much complain, to all those playtime and attention you gave Kimi, I know Kimi can never get a better dad. You passed the test the two weeks I was away in India! Hebat! Kimi is the luckiest boy to have a dad like you.

Love,
Mommy on behalf of Kimi

the luckiest boy in the whole wide world!
