Kimi Goes to School, Day 2
Kimi,
I have a feeling that you're loving it! We have absolutely no problem waking you up, but then you've always been an early riser. You're always cheerful in the morning, these two mornings were no different that then others. You had your breakfast, got ready and we were out of the house by 7. Good start, honey. Let's keep that up for the rest of the year alright?
Ayah and I sent you off today, we waited for you from outside the hall where you kids have your morning assembly, under the fans and all. Alright, some schools have air conditioned halls, but you know, you guys are lucky because back then, I had to sit cross-legged on the gravels, under the sun. We waited for another half an hour. You know, Mami wanted to leave waaaaayyy earlier than that, but Ayah kept delaying, pretending he wanted to hear the teacher babbling about school rules, when I knew the truth was he wanted to wait for you, he just refused to admit it.
When we he had breakfast this morning, ayah was in a very, very good mood. Not that he's usually moody, but these few days he's been extra cheerful. I think he's secretly feeling proud of you, though again, he won't say it out loud. He's beaming inside, looking at you in your school uniform. I know this from the way he looks at you, from outside the hall. Anyways, even after we were done with breakfast, Ayah suggested that we stalked you again. He made sure you saw him, and even told me, "Kalau awak berdiri dekat tingkap tu, nanti Kimi nampak awak". Ha. Ayah really has a soft spot for you you know? He wanted to make sure you're okay, before we leave.
Then on our way home, Ayah asked if I was going to come and check up on you during your break. When I said no because I think you're doing well, he suggested, "tengok dari jauh je." Ha.
I did, I went to check on you at the school canteen, I hid behind one of the pillars. You were with two kids, chatting away, while eating the mee goreng I cooked for you. You looked fine. I knew you'd be okay. Then I felt tears of pride streaming down my face. In fact I think some waterworks are going to start, any time now.
That's it for now.
It's only the beginning honey. We have a long way to go, and I promise you we'll be there with every step you take.
