Of thank you and sorry

Last night, kimi and i were reading his bedtime storybook when suddenly kimi turned to me and said, "thank you mommy belikan buku mi".

No problem baby, I'm glad you like it.

One day, he wet his pants. This was a few months after i had started potty training him. I was quite upset sebab he still hasnt grasped the concept. I guess my frustration was shown all over my face sebab kimi said again and again, "Sorry mommy, sorry mommy".

I was touched. The kid said sorry when i was the one who should apologize for not respecting his learning pace.

I fought my tears back and said, "Don't be, it's not your fault. Not anybody's fault. We just have to work harder, alright?"

I suppose my tone still sounded of frustration, because he replied, sorry mommy.

One day we were bidding goodbye to his atok at kampung. Kimi refused to let go of his atok and kept crying, nak balik rumah atok!

It was late on a sunday evening and we still hv to brace the 200 km drive to kl. Naturally i was tired and my patience was wearing thinner. He kept crying and refused to get into the car. I pinched him hard.

I buckled him in his seat. I promised him that we'll let him stay at kampung during the school holidays. All the while fighting the urge to yell at him. Kimi again saw my face and said, "sorry mommy".

I am deeply ashamed with myself. My son has more control of his angers than i do. He doesnt mind saying sorry when he doesnt have to. He says thanks for the little things.

Lets hope he will grow into one fine young man. And that i have better control of my angers like he does.
