Baking Again
It's been a while. Apparently, it's not just me, the blogosphere has gone quiet for quite sometime now, and I think it only has twitter to blame. (and crazy desk jobs, perhaps?)
Anyways. I'm still alive, alhamdulillah. Both ach and kimi are doing well, too.
As the title of this post said, I am baking again. Finally. If you've been following my blog all these while, you might have read that I've made several attempts at baking, either from scratch or using pre-mixes, but 80% of the time they never came out right. Batat je semua. I gave up and declared myself hopeless.
End of last year, Mak's oven played up after close to 10 years. I replaced the old guy with a basic oven, the cheapest that I could find in Giant and wasted no time testing it out the next day.
The first cake I baked in the oven was a crunchy-topping lemon cake. Anddd lo and beholdddd, that was the first cake I'd baked in yearrrrsss that came out perfect!! I almost had an orgasm the moment I bite into the fresh-from-oven cake. My faith in baking was renewed.
Eversince, I bake almost every week. And all of them came out perfect. So far, I've baked my fav crunchy-topping lemon cake, zesty olive oil cake, rainbow cake, orange cake, durian cake, and, a pineapple upside-down cake. Pineapple upside down cake y'all. I believe I can conquer the world.
No wonder aChieaJanie laki bini makin bulat.
By the way, I bet that cake woulda looked much better in this:
