Reflections Boutique Hotel, Siem Reap, Cambodia

Fun, Cosy Hotel to Stay At

Plus points:
  1. Close to a lot of stuff - town,a laundry next door, there's a pharmacy opposite the hotel, 2-4 minutes tuk tuk ride to old market, night market, eateries, 30 mins to angkor wat, but quite far from tonle sap. It took us 40 mins one way, but it was the rainy season so probably our tuk tuk was a bit slow?
  2. Our room (animal farm) feel very cosy, makes you feel at home, despite the many animal figures in the room. (refer to downpoints no. 5)
  3. Pancake served at breakfast was super delicious - the only problem was that the menu said "Banana Pancake - Grilled Pancake inside" but it turned out to be a plain pancake. No complains though, the pancake was very fluffy and awesome.
  4. Staff were very accommodating - the breakfast chef came earlier on our last day, to accommodate us who were leaving early to catch our morning flight.
  5. Nice water pressure for the showers. Felt like staying in the bathroom for ages if not for its downpoints.
  6. Fresh towels and robes everyday!
  7. Strong wifi connection in the room
  8. They aren't too calculative on water bottles. We requested extra water bottles (they only provide 2 bottles in the fridge everyday) and we were not charged for it. Most 5 star hotels would charge.
  9. Friendly staff who tried to accommodate to you as best as they could.
  10. There is an iphone charging and speaker dock provided in the room.

Down points:

  1. The shower and toilet area (they are separated, like what one review had written) were not very pretty. They are not dirty, but the walls aren't tiled and there are stains on them. Not sure what stains.
  2. Pool was a bit deep for a petite Asian like me. I'm 1.5m short and the shallow end of the pool was about 1.7m.
  3. The staff don't really speak English so communication was quite hard. I requested for omelette without the ham and sausage (religion reasons) but they served them anyways.
  4. They have a display of DVDs for you to borrow but in actual fact not many DVDs were available. All of the titles I chose weren't available.
  5. Animal room was nice but too many animal figurines made us quite uncomfortable in the first place. We had to rearrange a few figurines so they were out of sight - after that we were happy with the room.
  6. No tea-making facilities (no kettle, no coffee sachets provided in room). Would not be convenient to families with little children who need to drink formula milk.
Overall recommendations:
- Would definitely recommend this to everyone - but not the animal room to Muslims due to the animal figurines. Some might not feel comfortable.

Other recommendations:
- Not recommended to go to Siem Reap in September / October as it is the rainy season. Road to Tonle Sap was flooded and our tuk tuk's engine died on us several times on our way there.

Room Tips:
- Choose rooms on the upper floor for privacy.
- Would not recommend the animal room to Muslims due to the animal figurines. Some might not feel comfortable.” (IzzyMustafa)
