Happy 4th Birthday, Sayang.

Assalamualaikum Kimi Sayang, 

It’s 28 October 2012. It means you’re four today.

Four.

Can you believe it? Four years had passed by since I first laid my eyes on you. 

A lot of things had happened in the last four years, more good than bad, and it all happened because of you. You brought Mami and Ayah closer than I ever thought we could be. You turned both of us into better people. You made me see a whole new side of Ayah that I had never seen before and it made me thank Allah that whatever happened, happened.

I couldn’t have asked for more from you.

Eh wait, I could. I actually hope (want) you to graduate high school with the most A’s a student is allowed, secure a scholarship and graduate from RPI (so we could find a reason to visit RPI again – you know, that place means a lot to us).

Okay, okay, I was joking (not).

Hakimi,

You have grown up to be a fine young man. Okay probably it’s too early to call you a “fine young man”, but honey seriously, that’s what you are now. You've shown maturity beyond what I expect from kids your age (not that I’ve been comparing, it’s just really, I do not expect almost-four-year olds to behave the way you do, probably because I used to be too pampered when I was small); you helped urut my back when I was suffering from terrible morning sickness, you even jaga the tap when I vomit sebab you won’t let me leave the water running, bazir air awak kata. So bila mami vomit baru you open the tap and wash my puke away. Sikit pun you didn’t say geli. 

Alhamdulillah, you always make us the happiest parents in the whole wide world. 

Both Ayah and Mami promise that we will do everything that we could, the best that we could, to give you the best of what the world has to offer - good education, teach you good manners, feed you good food. We promise, because that is the only way we can thank Allah for choosing us to be your parents. And you too, for choosing to be born and make us your parents. Thank you. 

Ayah and Mami doakan Kimi supaya you grow up being a good person and a good Muslim. Jadi orang yang baik that can contribute to the happiness and well-being of everyone around you. Just like how you've always made us happy.

I know your little brother is looking forward to meeting you too. =)
