Wrapping Mama! - Part II

Why do I wear Hadi?

1. Because it allows me to multi-task

Four things - one, I can multitask because I have both hands free; second, I have both hands free because I do not have to hold the baby; third, I can go hands-free because I know my baby is safely carried; and four; I can do other things because I have this peace of mind that my baby is safe (close to me, not doing anything out of my eyesight).

You see how being hands-free makes you a better mommy already?

I can cook, clean the house, vacuum, play, travel, spend time with Hakimi, go shopping, do groceries, etc, etc because I have both hands free. I don't have to give the "I can't wash the dishes because baby wants mami on the bed with him" because I can be a more comfortable bed for the baby.

2. Because it allows me to be an independent woman (and mommy)

I don't have to wait for my husband to come home before I can take my baby to the hospital. I don't have to wait for him to come home before I do my groceries. And I don't have to wait for him to come home before I get to eat my meal (true story).

3. Because it allows me to be more in control of the kids

And in turn, makes me feel safer to be out in public. With Hadi "tied to me" and both hands free, I can keep my eyes focused on Kimi. That boy will not escape my eyes whenever we're out!

4. Because it's convenient

Not having to circle a shopping complex in a quest for lifts is a huge plus. It doesn't feel safe to push that stroller on the escalator, and that extra steps to the elevator (and the extra waiting time) is just an inconvenience. We have no problem with strollers, mind you, there are certain places when using a stroller makes more sense - for example, the theme park. Baby carriers are most convenient when you're at crowded places or when you're using the public transport and especially so when you're travelling and will be doing lots of walking.

5. Because it made me feel closer to the little one

This should go on top of the list but it'd feel a bit anticlimactic, doesn't it?

Okay seriously, this one is a no-brainer. Nothing beats having your baby close to you, especially when he's sleeping, feeling his heartbeat against yours, kissing his masam head, hugging him whenever you want. And when he's not sleeping, just to have him look up and look you in the eyes and smile, and call out for you, or pull your hair (tudung) to show you that bus he saw passing by ...I can melt over and over again.

No expensive strollers would give you that experience. (no offence meant).

I leave you with pictures of me wearing Hadi in the last one year. Bye!
